Dr. Grover Mori Romero (December 28, 1929 – July 28, 2025) was a master of Peruvian psychiatry, a disciple of Honorio Delgado, and a mentor to generations of psychiatrists at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. He brought together clinical rigor, phenomenological psychopathology, and an ethics of care centered on the patient’s dignity. Trained at the National University of San Marcos and further educated in Germany and the United Kingdom, he led therapeutic community initiatives that articulated science and humanism, and he promoted a modern, general-hospital psychiatry. His teaching, inspired by the Delgadian spirit, emphasized the patient’s biographical history, the richness of psychopathology, psychotherapy, and the comprehensive formation of the psychiatrist as “the internist of the soul.” His legacy persists as a formative school that unites knowledge, innovation, humanism, and academic excellence at the patient’s service.
