Distance learning: virtualization of medical clinical simulation during the COVID-19 pandemic

The covid-19 pandemic impacted in different áreas, and definitely one of them was the medical education. Social distancing was the most effective strategy for prevention to the infection until the development of vaccines. In this context, classroom education had to be adapted face-to- face to virtual education, using more technology and promoting active education, self-learning and integrative. Objective: the present study describes the migration of the simulation clinic carried out in a physical simulation center to a virtual simulation center, through the creation of scenarios through videos and comparison guidelines, focused on continuing with the clinical performance of fourth, fifth and sixth year students of the Facultad de medicina de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) during the pandemic, in the year 2020. Case: they built clinical cases focused on the learning needs of the students. Such cases were recorded in the Simulation Center, in an environment of medium complexity to be able to be used by simulation instructors in different courses, for years. Conclusion: the virtualization of clinical simulation allowed us to significantly innovate the way in which taught, playing an important role in the continuity of student learning.Downloads
