Abstract

Objective: describe the application of a new rating system during a double summative evaluation, individual and in groups using Kahoot! during histology practices. Case: studying histological microscopic images is difficult when there is a lack of interest and requires constant consultation if done individually. We apply active learning in Histology through gamification using Kahoot! and individual and group work, combined during a summative evaluation and we describe the application of a new qualification system in Histology practices in 122 students of the second and third year of Medicine during the year 2019. An open response survey to a group of 44 students showed that the method was accepted by most of the students, mentioning that it is entertaining, interactive, didactic and allows quick feedback, while the connection to the network, the time to respond and the size of the images were pointed out. as disadvantages. Conclusion: we describe the application of Kahoot! in individual and group summative evaluations during the Histology practice. We propose using the geometric mean to determine the average of an individual and group summative evaluation, reducing the distortion of the grade when the intra-group academic performance is unequal
