Tracheostomy is a surgical intervention that allows continuous air flow to the lungs, indicated in congenital and/or acquired airway conditions, prolonged intubation and neuromuscular weakness. Nursing professionals play an important role in the management of patients with tracheostomy; aimed at prevention and early diagnosis to avoid possible complications.
Objective: Describe the comprehensive care provided to a preschooler with a tracheostomy, integrating the tools of the NANDA International standardized nursing language, expected results (NOC) and nursing interventions (NIC).
Methodology: This study was approached using the steps of the nursing care process (PAE); In the same way, for the exhaustive examination the 11 patterns of Marjory Gordon will be considered; Based on the findings, priority diagnoses were identified and care plans were proposed with the standardization of the taxonomies of the nurse's own language (NANDA, NOC, NIC).
Conclusion: The 5 phases of the PAE served as a fundamental pillar in nursing practice to acquire skills in the care of tracheostomized children.
