Experiences of parents to care for her autistic son

Objetive: To identify the experiences of family parents in the care of his autistic hijo/a between 3 to 8 years of age, belonging to the «Association of parents and friends of persons with Autism of Peru» (ASPAU-PERÚ) in November,2011. Material and Methods: Descriptive design of transverse court; it was based on the compilation and description of the information obtained of showing experiences of 30 parents to whom a questionnaire was applied. Results: In relation with the feelings: 3 % with denial, 66.7 % impotence and 86.7 % patience. In the familiar dynamics: 70 % almost the whole day takes care of his son, 63.3 % resigned his work and 70 % it confronts mutually the situation. In the somatic physical thing, 50 % felt depletion before the care of his son and 66.7 % stress. Conclusions. More than the half of the parents they reacted in a negative way to the diagnosis, in the main they ended up by confronting the situation, with very much love for his hijo/a, limiting his assistance to social activities; a high percentage of the parents, in the main mothers resigned his work to take care to his hijo/a and a bit more than the half of the parents they confronted mutually the situation, in a minority the relation of pair ended in conjugal separation and the stress was the most frequent manifestation.
