La enfermedad de Alzheimer y los efectos psicosociales de la convivencia familiar

Objetivo: Analizar los efectos psicosociales de la enfermedad de Alzheimer y como incide en la convivencia familiar. Material y métodos: Corresponde a un estudio de campo, no experimental a nivel descriptivo. La población,
quedó constituida por 23 familiares de los pacientes con Alzheimer que acudieron a la Consulta de Salud Mental en el período comprendido entre Octubre 2010 y Marzo 2011, en el Ambulatorio Urbano El Socorro. El instrumento de recolección de información un cuestionario policotomico, sometido a juicios de expertos, y pruebas para analizar la validez. Resultados: el 48 % de los encuestados respondieron que conocen muy poco los cuidados que se deben proporcionar al enfermo de Alzheimer, mientras que el 35% afirman que mucho. Referente a si, está consciente de que si el paciente se queda en casa deberán instalarse cerraduras afuera de la puerta, el 43% de las personas encuestadas respondió que medianamente. Conclusiones: la mayoría de los cuidadores evidencian reacciones físicas y emocionales asociadas al cuidado del paciente con Alzheimer.
