Asociación entre conocimiento y autocuidado sobre hipertensión arterial en pacientes hipertensos, consultorio de cardiología, Hospital Nacional

Objetivo: determinar la asociación entre el nivel de conocimiento sobre hipertensión arterial y autocuidado en pacientes adultos con hipertensión arterial. Material y métodos: el estudio es cuantitativo, tipo descriptivo, de corte transversal; se llevó a cabo en el consultorio de cardiología de un Hospital Nacional. La población de estudio fue 3949 y la muestra lo constituyeron 86 pacientes con diagnóstico de HTA. Técnicas e instrumentos de recolección de datos, se aplicó la técnica de la entrevista, un cuestionario sobre conocimiento de hipertensión arterial y para medir el autocuidado una Escala de Lickert. Validez y confiabilidad de los instrumentos: se sometió a juicio de expertos con 10 profesionales de salud, la confiabilidad se obtuvo mediante la aplicación de una prueba piloto. Procedimiento de recolección de datos: se solicitó la autorización del Comité de Ética de la UPCH y del Hospital, la recolección de datos
se realizó previo consentimiento informado de los participantes. La información obtenida se procesó en una base de datos en Excel a través del programa estadístico SPSS versión 15; y el análisis estadístico se realizó con la prueba t de student; se utilizó el análisis descriptivo y los resultados se presentaron en tablas estadísticas. Conclusiones: el 40.0%
de los pacientes tenían un nivel de conocimiento y autocuidado alto; el 38.1% presentaron un nivel de conocimiento y autocuidado bajo. Las diferencias resultaron estadísticamente significativas.
