Abstract

Rafael Castillo Gómez, a genuine virtuous of photography, worked in Lima for more than twenty years, between the decades of 1860 and 1880; however, his work has been undervalued, since that time was almost exclusively dominated by the French Eugene Courret. The purpose of this article is to rediscover Castillo’s transcendent iconographic work, among whose main landmarks is the family photograph of Daniel Alcides Carrión and others of his close relatives.
