A complex topic of increasing presence and studies at multidisciplinary levels, Violence impacts deeply areas of human development, individual wellbeing and public health. In this work, its structure and phenomenology, as well as diverse classifications and its incorporation into the so-called Social Determinants of Health and Mental Health, are described. Epidemiological studies show a marked increase in figures of homicide, physical and sexual violence against women, abuses against children, adolescents, the elderly and members of ethnoracial minorities. Deaths due to criminal acts, domestic political conflicts, terrorism and wars constitute dramatic culminations. On an ecological basis, individual, relationship-based, community-oriented and social models of violence are discussed, as well as their clinicalemotional effects shown through entities like anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, accentuation of personality disorders and substance abuse. The management of Violence includes socio-political, cultural, educational, institutional and religious-spiritual foci with integral routes, summarized in a series of recommendations of sustainable development.
