Relación entre el potencial al maltrato infantil y los estilos de afrontamiento al estrés en madres de un centro de salud de Lima

El modelo de procesamiento social aplicado al maltrato infantil propone que existiría relación entre los procesos cognitivos que utiliza el sujeto en su interrelación con el medio y su uso de conductas de maltrato en la relación con sus hijos. En esta investigación se analizó el rol del afrontamiento al estrés en el potencial al maltrato infantil de la madre. El diseño aplicado fue descriptivo correlacional y de carácter no experimental. Se trabajó con una muestra de madres mayores de 18 años que acudieron a un centro de salud de Lima; a quienes se les aplicó las escalas de Children Abuse Potential (CAP) y de afrontamiento al estrés (COPE). Se estimó la relación entre los factores mencionados usando un modelo de regresión canónica. Se encontró que existe una correlación significativa entre el potencial al maltrato infantil y el estilo de afrontamiento. Además, se encontró una correlación fuerte y positiva del potencial al maltrato infantil con el estilo de afrontamiento evitativo, una correlación débil y positiva con el estilo de afrontamiento orientado a la emoción y una correlación fuerte y negativa con el estilo de afrontamiento orientado al problema. Las variables demográficas que muestran diferencias significativas con la variable de potencial al maltrato son el estado civil, el grado de instrucción y la ocupación laboral.
