Objective: Identify the training modality preferred by nursing students for the new post-pandemic context in a public university. Methods: Comparative quantitative cross-sectional study with 136 students, first-year group with 77 students and fifth-year group with 59 students, non-probabilistic sample for convenience, data were collected in virtual mode with a Likert scale in Google Forms, with a Cronbach's alpha coefficient reliability of 0.70. Results: Both groups state that they are satisfied with the achievement of theoretical competencies through virtual education, fifth year 44.07% and first year 36.36%, satisfied with teacher training 37.29% in fifth year and 37.66% in of the first year. Fifth year students are regularly satisfied (35.59%) with the teaching-learning process and first year students are satisfied (40.26%). The fifth year shows dissatisfaction with the achievement of practical skills (27.12%) and the first year shows regular satisfaction (28.57%).
The opinion of first and fifth year students shows significant differences in the preference for virtual education for the achievement of theoretical competencies and for teacher training. Conclusion: First and fifth year students express their opinion in favor of continuing training in the hybrid modality; However, rejection of the virtual modality is greater among fifth-year students.
