Abstract

Humanism, more than a philosophical movement, constitutes a way of understanding existence and guiding educational action. In the contemporary context, in which science, technology, and artificial intelligence advance at unprecedented speeds, the revival of humanist thought proves not only relevant but urgent. At Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, this perspective takes on an essential dimension: to educate well-rounded individuals who are aware of their dignity, commitment, and responsibility toward knowledge and society. This article examines the roots of humanism, its branches, its role in higher education, and its relevance as a response to the challenges of our time. It concludes that humanist teaching allows science to be humanized, professional life to be ennobled, and a more just society to be built.
