Reform, Counter-Reformation and University Renewal in Peru during the 20th and 21st Centuries: A Historical View

Las universidades peruanas del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX mantenían una estructura y un tipo de gestión colonial. Salazar Bondy (1965) reconoció la presencia más o menos constante de movimientos estudiantiles inspirados, a partir de la segunda década del siglo pasado, por la llamada Reforma Universitaria y el “el grito de Córdoba”. Debido a “retrocesos” dentro del sistema universitario, este estado de “lucha y reivindicación” persistió a lo largo de muchos años, con períodos más intensos que reflejaban la agitación y el descontento de las organizaciones estudiantiles. De allí el argumento, varias veces utilizado por Salazar Bondy, de que “en el contexto de nuestro país no se ha tenido la paciencia necesaria para llevar a cabo reformas educativas, dando así lugar a que la improvisación y la prisa impidan o bloqueen un proceso reflexivo y gradual de necesaria transformación”.
