The 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to John Goodenough, M. Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino by the contributions to the development of lithium-ion batteries. Through their researches, they have created the conditions for a wireless and fossil fuel- free future society. So, there will be major social, environmental, economic and geopolitical changes when lithium batteries feed most cars, factories and homes.
