Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

ACTA HEREDIANA  is a publication sponsored by  the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia

The articles sent to ACTA HEREDIANA should deal with subjects related to the biomedical sciences and humanities, besides being original and unpublished. They can be written in Spanish, Portuguese or English.

ON THE PRESENTATION

ON THE ARTICLE

The article should belong to one of the following categories: essays, monographs, reviews, biographical reviews and recensions

Form and preparation of manuscripts

The article should be written in Spanish, Portuguese or English, printed matter in ISOA4 (212x297 mm)white bond paper, single face, Times New Roman font, size 12, double-spaced, with 25 mm margins. The decimal fractions should be separated from the whole numbers with decimal comma and the thousands and millions should be separated by a simple space. In the text in English, the decimal fractions are separated from the entire ones with a period. Each part of the article should begin in a separate page, numbered consecutively. In case of textual quotations, the corresponding paragraph within the text will stand out placing it between quotation marks or writing it with italics. The tables, figures, and graphics with their corresponding title are placed at the end of the text in separate pages; they should not be inserted within the text.

Page of the Title

The page of the title should contain: Title of the article in the original language (Spanish or Portuguese) and in English, full name of the author, or authors, institution where the study was conducted and the address of the correspondence.

The name of the author or authors should follow the following order: Paternal surname, maternal surname, and names. The names of the authors should be separated among themselves by a comma. The name of the author should be placed after the Title or obtained Academic Degree and the appeal for the institutional affiliation in Arabic numbers in superscript.

The name of the institution or institutions to which the author has affiliation, is placed after the last author and in a separate paragraph, preceded by the corresponding number in superscript.

For the correspondence, the name of the author in charge, address, postal code, and E-mail should be placed. The telephone number can be placed in addition.

ONTHE TABLES, GRAPHICS, AND FIGURES

Tables should have a brief and clear title and should be numbered according to the order indicated in the text, for example: Table 1. The title of the table should be written in Times New Roman size12.

No vertical lines should be used in tables, only three horizontal lines: one under the title, another one under the headings of the columns and the third at the end of the table.

The figures, graphics, and photos should be presented in JPG, GIF, or TIF format. If a scanner is used, a minimum printing resolution of 300 dpi is required, otherwise the photos or original figures should be enclosed.

The journal will publish black and white iconography; if the author prefers iconography in full color, a request for budget should be attached.
