Self-care and anxiety in tempo of Covid 19 in university entrants

Objective: Determine the correlation between the capacity for self-care and anxiety in university entrants. Materials and methods: Basic quantitative observational study at a cross-sectional correlational level in a sample of 126 entrants, out of a total of 186, to the Faculty of Medicine of the National University Federico Villarreal in its four professional schools of Nursing, Medicine, Obstetrics and Nutrition. The Capacity Inventory was administered of Self-Care and the Anxiety Scale, whose validity and reliability are 0.86 and 0.92, respectively. Results: According to the descriptive analysis, regarding the capacity for self-care, the level was medium with 65.9% and high with 32.5%; and the prevalent anxiety level was medium with 51.6%, followed by a low level with 32.5%. Conclusion: The test by Rho Spearman determined that there is a significant and weak relationship between the variables self-care and anxiety in the incoming university students (–0.176, with a bilateral significance level of 0.049 [< 0.05]).
