Abstract

There have been studied seven policithemic subjects and seven non policithemic subjects, residents of La Paz city. The proposal of the study was to know the effects of maximal exercise associated to isuprel and in hipoxic conditions. It has been measured in all subjects hipoxia-sensitive molecules such as: glucose and uric acid. The policithem ic subjects showed significative decrease of glucose with respect to non policithemic subjects, resulting in a shunt in the glucose response in the range of 58-59% of hematocrit, which globular volumme could indicate the onset of erithrocitosis. Uric acid, in contrast to its performance in hipoxic environment, decreased significantly in policithemic subjects. These results could be explained by the predominance of hipoxia and exercise, respectively. However, in these conditions isuprel seems to modulate the glucose response.
